Chelsea have made the decision to pull out of the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that the Blues had been given permission to speak to the 22-year-old by Crystal Palace and had hoped to reach an agreement by the end of the week. However, it seems that the financial aspects of the deal did not align between the two clubs, leading Chelsea to opt out of pursuing the player further.

Ornstein also mentioned that Chelsea’s management is focused on establishing a more controlled wage bill compared to previous years. They prefer to reward current players who consistently perform well or sign new players on more modest salaries. Despite this setback, it is likely that new manager Enzo Mareca will have at least two new attacking players added to the squad this summer as Chelsea aim to secure Champions League qualification next season.

Reports suggest that Michael Olise has instead agreed to join Bayern Munich, where he is anticipated to become Vincent Kompany’s first signing for the club. This turn of events indicates that Olise’s future may lie in Germany rather than in the Premier League with Chelsea.
