114-Year-Old Venezuelan Man Passes Away, Holds Title of World’s Oldest Person

Juan Vicente Perez Mora, who was recognized by Guinness World Records as the oldest man in the world, passed away at the age of 114 in Caracas, Venezuela. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro confirmed the news of Perez’s death on social media.

Perez was officially recognized as the oldest man alive in 2022, when he was 112 years and 253 days old. He was known as Tio Vicente and was a farmer from the town of El Cobre in the Andean state of Tachira. He was born on May 27, 1909, and was the ninth of 10 children. From a young age, Perez worked in agriculture with his family, assisting with sugar cane and coffee harvesting.

Throughout his life, Perez was a hardworking individual who also served as a sheriff, resolving land and family disputes in addition to his agricultural work. He was a father of 11, had 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Perez’s legacy lives on through his large family and the impact he made in his community during his long life.
