11th Annual Fourth on the Field Fireworks Show Hosted by Sutter Health Park

Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento opened its gates on Thursday evening to a line of people eager to secure their ideal spots on the field and in the stadium to watch the spectacular fireworks display. Holli Wood arrived early with her children to avoid the crowds and claim their spot in the shade.

The ballpark hosted the 11th annual Fourth on the Field celebration as the River Cats played an Independence Day away game. Before the fireworks, attendees enjoyed live music by Sacramento’s Dunsbar Road, shopped with local vendors, and sampled the offerings from food trucks. To beat the heat, Dinger’s splash pad and cooling tent were open, along with plenty of spots to grab a cold treat.

Val Gomez, attending for the first time instead of having a family fireworks show, emphasized the importance of celebrating independence and family on the holiday. The event recognized and thanked service members for their contributions. Across the street, Drake’s at the Barn hosted its own watch party for the fireworks.

With no City of Sacramento fireworks due to the pandemic, the West Sacramento display on the riverfront has quickly become a family tradition for many. Wood highlighted the significance of spending time with family and celebrating freedom.
