A 15-year-old teenager from Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida holds the record for having the longest hair. Guinness World Records (GWR) shared a video of Sidak Deep Singh Chahal on his YouTube. In the video, Chahal explains how, as a child, he became dissatisfied with his long hair and “begged” his parents to cut it. However, as he grew older, he started taking care of his hair and also realized that it was a part of him.
Chahal, who practices Sikhism, cut her hair to respect her religious beliefs. His hair has now grown to 146 cm, but how does he care for his long hair? In the video, Chahal also talked about her hair care routine. He talked about how he helps his mother wash and comb her hair. “If it wasn’t for her mother’s help, it would have taken all day,” he said. When not washing or drying, Chahal usually ties his hair in a bun and covers his head with a dastar (turban). This is a custom among followers of Sikhism.
Chahal says people were shocked when she first told him about her record. “They seemed to think I was pulling their leg and it took a little bit of evidence to convince them,” he told GWR. He is also “over the moon” that his record will be included in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2024.
