The FIDE Worlds Chess Championship Match represents the culmination of the FIDE World Championship Cycle, with the 2024 edition determining the next chess world champion. The match will feature current world champion Ding Liren of China against the youngest challenger in chess history, Gukesh D from India.
Scheduled to take place between November 20 and December 15, 2024, FIDE is currently accepting bids to host the event. The basic provisions for the event include a total duration of up to 25 days, approval of regulations by July 1, 2024, a minimum total budget of 8,500,000 USD, and a minimum prize fund of 2,500,000 USD.
Applicants interested in hosting the event must fill out a Bidding Form and submit it by May 31, 2024, along with supporting documents in English. FIDE reserves the right to negotiate with applicants to improve or modify bids before making a final decision based on a variety of factors, including the development of chess.
