The 60-year-old man’s wife shared with Mako Health that her husband usually feeds the birds in their house every morning. One morning, he discovered a large snake under the birdcage. He bravely grabbed the snake and put it in a bucket, attempting to wrestle with it. Unfortunately, the snake bit him on the hand after he cut off its head to protect himself.

Dr. Salim Halavi, the director of the emergency room at the Carmel Medical Center, reported that the man was bitten on the left hand by a viper-type snake. He received treatment with adrenaline, fluids, and serum to counteract the venom. However, the man also experienced heart rhythm disorders as a result of the snake bite, which could lead to serious complications.

In recent weeks, there have been several cases of snake bites in Israel, including a 14-year-old boy from Moshav Rintia and a boy from Beit Aryeh Shomron. Doral Erzuan, a senior MDA paramedic and snake catcher, mentioned that the number of snake bites has increased due to the hot weather. He advised people to stay away from snakes, call a professional snake catcher if encountered, and seek immediate medical help if bitten.

Erzuan highlighted the importance of avoiding snakes from entering houses by eliminating hiding places and food sources. He also recommended closing windows and installing nets to prevent snakes from entering buildings. Taking these precautions can help reduce the risk of snake encounters and bites, ensuring the safety of individuals and their surroundings.
