Marion, Illinois is celebrating a major milestone as plans for a $30 million multi-use sports complex move forward. The Marion city council and Williamson County board of commissioners have approved a joint agreement with Oasis Sports to construct the new facility.
The sports complex is expected to cater to both local and visiting baseball, softball, and soccer teams. Located behind the former Illinois Star Center Mall, just off Interstate 57, the complex will be a hub for athletic activities in the region.
In addition to approving the construction of the sports complex, new hotel tax ordinances were passed to help cover the financing of the project. The goal is to have the entire complex completed by spring 2025.
