Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, Maryland received a $350,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for their Eastern Shore Technician in Electro-Mechanics project, known as ESTEEM. The grant, which spans over three years, aims to provide students with practical technical experience and education that will prepare them for the workforce even before completing their associate’s degree.

The ESTEEM program is being specially tailored to cater to students who are already working or have busy schedules. Instructors are working to design a program that can accommodate these students, taking into consideration the various occupations represented in the program. The goal is to provide students with access to education even if their schedules are unpredictable.

One of the key components of the grant funding will be used to purchase necessary lab equipment, including learning systems for robotics. This investment in resources will enhance the educational experience for students in the ESTEEM program, allowing them to gain hands-on experience and practical skills that will benefit them in their future careers.
