The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is a compact crossover SUV that competes with Toyota and Honda models. I appreciated the Tucson Hybrid’s stylish appearance, new technology, strong performance, and fuel efficiency. However, I found the drivetrain and transmission to be somewhat unrefined.
Compact crossover SUVs are currently the most popular type of vehicle on American roads, making up about 20% of new car sales in the first quarter of this year. Hyundai has been offering the Tucson in this important segment for the past two decades. Over the years, the Tucson has become Hyundai’s top-selling model, with nearly 210,000 units sold in 2023. It is also one of the leading models in its segment, launching its fourth generation in 2021.
