AC Milan’s potential signing of Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea this summer would hinder their ability to finalize a deal for Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Rossoneri would not have the resources to bring in both strikers, as well as other targeted players for different positions on the team.
Discussions have already begun between Milan, Lukaku’s agent, and Chelsea to explore the possibility of a loan move. Lukaku has previously had loan spells in Serie A with Inter and Roma since signing for Chelsea. Despite Enzo Maresca now being in charge at Chelsea, it appears that the Premier League club is open to letting Lukaku go once again.
Having scored 21 goals for Roma last season, Lukaku has proven his capabilities, but the Giallorossi are unable to retain him. The dilemma for Milan lies in being unable to accommodate both Lukaku and Zirkzee with only one starting role available for a striker. Managing playing time to keep both players satisfied would be a challenge for manager Paulo Fonseca.
