Rebecca Adlington, a double Olympic gold medallist, believes that Adam Peaty has surprised himself by winning a medal so soon after his return to swimming. She noted that Peaty’s focus is on getting back to his best for the Olympics and that he wants to peak in the summer. Adlington stated that Peaty is in the perfect position to achieve this and is confident that there is enough quality in the British team to help take the pressure off Peaty and secure “a handful of medals” in Paris.
Adlington mentioned that Peaty realizes he is the poster boy of the sport, but also highlighted other fantastic medallists on the British team, such as Matt Richards, Tom Dean, and Duncan Scott. She believes that these swimmers deserve more credit for their achievements, and that they would be the poster boys if there wasn’t an Adam Peaty. Adlington expressed confidence in the team’s strength and believes that they are in great shape heading into the Olympics.
