This summer, Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab are hosting Put-In-Bay Science Days, a series of free events open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from June through July 27. Additionally, tours of Gibraltar Island and the South Bass Island Lighthouse will also be available. Stone Lab is offering a variety of tours throughout the summer, including educational sessions on live fish and wildlife to raise awareness about Lake Erie and its ecosystem.

Each week at the South Bass Island Lighthouse grounds, Stone Lab experts will showcase different aspects of Lake Erie, such as island birds, native fishes, and pollinators and their habitats. Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial is another popular attraction at South Bass Island.

Tours of Gibraltar Island, including Perry’s Lookout, Cooke Castle, and the glacial grooves, will be offered on Thursdays from June 13 to August 15. Tickets for the tour are $12 per adult and $6 per child, with an additional $8 for round-trip transportation paid to the water taxi driver. Tour participants should meet at the Boardwalk Restaurant dock before the tour starts.

The South Bass Island Lighthouse grounds are open to the public every day from dawn to dusk, with guided tours available on Fridays and Saturdays from June to July. Guests will have the opportunity to visit the top of the lighthouse tower for a panoramic view of Put-In-Bay, Lake Erie, and Green Island.
