Provectus HX2, a vehicle designed for defense deployment testing, serves as an example of how WaveSense technology can be utilized. GPR Ground Positioning Radar, known for their ground-penetrating radar technology for autonomous vehicle localization, has partnered with Rheinmetall Provectus, a provider of autonomous navigation solutions. This collaboration aims to integrate WaveSense localization system into Rheinmetall Provectus’ autonomous platforms, improving positioning and navigation capabilities in environments where GNSS signals are denied.

The integration of WaveSense technology is expected to bring new capabilities, such as beyond line of sight (BLOS) and GNSS-denied leader-follower operations. The collaboration between GPR and Rheinmetall Provectus was born out of a successful proof of concept (PoC) conducted in rough terrains in Ontario, Canada, during the third and fourth quarters of 2023. This PoC demonstrated the effectiveness of WaveSense technology in GNSS-denied environments, highlighting its potential to enhance autonomous navigation in challenging conditions.

Both companies have made significant investments to ensure a robust integration of the WaveSense system, making it ready for deployment in real-world scenarios. By working together, GPR and Rheinmetall Provectus aim to leverage the benefits of WaveSense technology to improve the performance of autonomous vehicles in defense deployment settings.
