Advancements in science and technology drive Ha Tinh’s economic development

Research, application, and transfer of science and technology, as well as innovation activities, play a significant role in increasing the value of key products and protecting the brands of local products. This information was discussed in a working session led by Deputy Minister Tran Hong Thai of the Ministry of Science and Technology with the People’s Committee of Ha Tinh province on June 28. The session reviewed the results of science, technology, and innovation activities in Ha Tinh province from 2022-2024, identified challenges, proposed solutions, and outlined key tasks for the future.

The Department of Science and Technology of Ha Tinh reported on various successful research projects undertaken by the province, including studies on plant and animal varieties, high-yield agriculture, and new technologies like greenhouse production and artificial intelligence applications. These initiatives have led to improved product quality and economic efficiency in key local products. Ha Tinh has also focused on sectors like medicine, environmental protection, and agriculture, applying biotechnology, automation, and innovative technologies to advance these industries.

The province has made significant progress in registering products for brand protection and intellectual property development, with specific products like Phuc Trach grapefruit and Huong Son deer antlers receiving geographical indication status. Ha Tinh’s efforts in science and technology have contributed to its economic growth, ranking the province 15th in GRDP growth among all provinces and cities in Vietnam.

While recognizing Ha Tinh’s achievements, Deputy Minister Tran Hong Thai emphasized the need to address existing limitations in science and technology capacities, low research proposals, and a lack of cutting-edge products. He recommended boosting investment in science and technology, promoting innovation, and overcoming interdisciplinary challenges to develop high-value products and technologies. Ha Tinh proposed sustainable development tasks, technology transfer projects, and financial mechanisms to support its scientific endeavors.

In conclusion, it is evident that Ha Tinh province has made significant strides in advancing science and technology for socio-economic development. While facing challenges, the province is committed to enhancing its innovation ecosystem, promoting research and application of advanced technologies, and preserving cultural heritage values. By focusing on key solutions like increased investment and technology transfer, Ha Tinh aims to continue its progress in science and technology for sustainable development.
