Amazon Games has announced that New World: Aeternum will be coming out on October 15, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The news was officially confirmed at Summer Game Fest on June 9, following an earlier leak, and was accompanied by a reveal trailer for the massively multiplayer online game (MMO).
New World: Aeternum is an enhanced version of the original New World, which was initially launched in 2021 on Steam. This updated version includes the base game along with brand-new content such as a large-scale player vs. player zone, a 10-player raid, end-game solo trials, updated character archetypes, and more.
For the first time, New World will be available on consoles, with cross-platform play allowing users on different consoles and PCs to team up and play together online. The game is set on the supernatural island of Aeternum, where shipwrecked explorers must forge their destiny in a world filled with danger and opportunity.
In New World: Aeternum, players can engage in real-time combat using various weapons like swords, guns, and magic. They can face off against enemies in head-to-head battles or participate in large-scale player vs. player conflicts. The game offers seven classes to choose from, including Soldier, Swordbearer, Ranger, Musketeer, Mystic, Occultist, and Destroyer.
As an MMO, players can customize their character’s appearance, skills, and abilities, as well as gather resources and complete quests to increase their character’s power and skill level. Amazon has designed this version of New World specifically for consoles, with feature parity for PC players and cross-play functionality.
Enhancements to game mechanics, such as target locking, aim assist, virtual cursor, controller navigation, accessibility features, and more, are also included in New World: Aeternum.
