Lilia Vu won the LPGA Meijer Classic in Michigan on Sunday after an impressive final round of seven-under-par 65. This victory came after a sudden-death playoff with Lexi Thompson and Grace Kim, who had led by five shots after the third round. Kim advanced to the playoff but was unable to convert difficult eagle putts to secure the win.
Vu, a two-time major champion, finished with a 16-under-par aggregate of 272 after her stunning final round at Blythefield Country Club. The three women all birdied the first two playoff holes before going to the par-five fourth where Vu kept her nerve to secure her fifth LPGA title.
Although Kim struggled in the final round with early bogeys, Thompson managed to force her way into the playoff with a crucial birdie on the 18th hole. Despite missing out on the win, Kim was optimistic about her future in the sport after the near-miss experience.
Thompson, who is a crowd favorite, made a strong push in the final round to join the playoff, showcasing her talent and determination. The exciting playoff and fierce competition added to the drama of the LPGA Meijer Classic, providing thrills for fans and players alike.
