Honor introduced two new features powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2024. These features, AI Defocus Eye Protection and AI Deepfake Detection, aim to protect users’ eyesight and detect video ‘deepfakes’. The company stated that these new AI-powered tools are designed to empower users and enhance security.

AI Defocus Eye Protection addresses the issue of myopia caused by prolonged screen use by simulating blurring glasses on smart devices. This technology can reduce transient myopia by up to 75 degrees, protecting ocular health while improving visual clarity. On the other hand, AI Deepfake Detection focuses on detecting deepfakes in videos through detailed frame-by-frame analysis, identifying imperceptible signals like lighting changes or altered eye contact.

Honor explained that the Deepfake Detection tool has been trained on video and image datasets related to online scams, enabling it to quickly identify and analyze manipulated digital content in just three seconds. The company’s focus on incorporating AI into mobile technologies reflects a commitment to innovation and user safety.
