AI-powered humanoid robot deployed by Dongfeng Motor for vehicle manufacturing in China

A subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Corporation has signed a strategic agreement with Ubtech Robotics, a leading company in intelligent services and humanoid robots. Dongfeng will implement Ubtech’s humanoid robots in its manufacturing processes, ushering in a new era of next-generation mobility assembled using robotic technology. Dongfeng Motor Corporation, one of China’s “big four” state-owned automakers, has been in operation since the late 1960s. Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, has been manufacturing vehicles under the Fengxing brand, as well as other vehicles for Lingzhi and Jingyi. To enhance its production process, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor has partnered with Ubtech Robotics to deploy humanoid robots on its assembly lines in China.

Ubtech Robotics, founded in 2012, offers a range of futuristic robots for various applications. Dongfeng is particularly interested in Ubtech’s humanoid robot, Walker S, which is already being used in the production of electric vehicles for Chinese automakers like NIO. The Walker S robots will be tasked with handling manufacturing processes like seat belt inspection, door lock testing, and oil filling. These robots will work alongside traditional automated equipment, enabling complex tasks to be performed without human intervention. With its advanced technology, including real-time communication capabilities and sensory abilities, the humanoid robots will optimize production practices at Dongfeng’s facilities.

Through this partnership, Dongfeng Motor Corporation aims to revolutionize its production processes by incorporating cutting-edge robotic technology. By integrating Ubtech’s humanoid robots into its manufacturing operations, Dongfeng is positioning itself as a leader in the future of automotive production.
