Airbnb Introduces Anti-Party Technology for Memorial Day and Fourth of July Celebrations

As Memorial Day weekend approaches, the short-term rental company Airbnb is emphasizing responsible stays and taking action against disruptive parties. The company has announced that they will be implementing “anti-party technology” for bookings made around Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. This technology was used last year and successfully blocked around 67,500 people across the United States from booking entire home listings on the platform during these holidays.

The anti-party technology evaluates various factors to determine if a booking poses a risk of hosting a disruptive party. Some of the factors taken into consideration include the type of listing booked, the duration of the stay, the distance to the listing from the guest’s location, and whether the booking is made last minute. While incidents of disruptive parties are rare, with just 0.035% of reservations globally reported for partying in 2023, Airbnb is dedicated to reducing the risk of such issues and assisting hosts in promoting positive experiences in their homes and neighborhoods.
