The Connecticut Sun had an exceptional start to the 2024 WNBA season, with a couple of their standout individuals being recognized for their performances. Alyssa Thomas, the Sun star, was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for May. She put up impressive stats including 14.6 points, nine rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Thomas even had a triple-double in the season opener against the Indiana Fever.
In addition to Thomas, Sun head coach Stephanie White was also honored with the WNBA Coach of the Month award for May. Under White’s guidance, the Sun had a perfect 7-0 record for the month, making them the only team in the league to remain undefeated. Their winning streak continued with a victory over the Atlanta Dream, bringing their record to 8-0.
The Connecticut Sun’s success has been historic, as they are one of only 12 teams in WNBA history to win their first seven games of a season. With this strong start, they are looking to maintain their momentum as they face the Washington Mystics on Tuesday night at home. The game will be televised on NBC Sports Boston with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
