The Woodlands Health Care Center in Leesville recently organized an Alzheimer’s Awareness Walk on June 20. The event provided participants with the opportunity to walk or run a certain distance or time in honor of those affected by Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. Additionally, participants had the chance to create a Memory Garden featuring pinwheel flowers in Alzheimer’s awareness colors.
The colors represented different aspects of Alzheimer’s: blue for those living with Alzheimer’s, purple for those who have been lost to the disease, yellow for caregivers, and orange for supporters and advocates. This meaningful event brought together people of all ages, with participants from different generations showing their support for those affected by Alzheimer’s.
Woodlands Health Care transportation driver, Joe Laughlin, expressed the significance of the event by highlighting the hope it brings for the future generations. Seeing children interacting with elderly individuals and knowing that they will eventually take their place in society showcases the importance of building a supportive community. The event was a powerful symbol of unity and hope for those impacted by Alzheimer’s.
