Amari Cooper absent from Browns minicamp

The Browns began their mandatory minicamp without star wide receiver Amari Cooper in attendance on Tuesday. Reports from practice indicated that Cooper’s absence was noted by reporters, and he could face fines if his absence is unexcused. Head coach Kevin Stefanski is expected to address Cooper’s situation with the media later in the day.

Cooper, who is entering the final year of his contract, also did not participate in the team’s voluntary OTA practices. With a base salary of $20 million for the 2024 season, Cooper’s future with the team is uncertain. Browns General Manager Andrew Berry expressed a desire to keep players like Cooper on the roster for as long as possible back in March.

In light of Cooper’s absence, the Browns made a move in March to trade for wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and signed him to a three-year extension. It remains to be seen if Cooper’s absence will prompt discussions for a new deal of his own. Stay tuned for updates on this developing situation.
