There has been a lot of talk surrounding the size of the offensive tackles playing in front of Joe Burrow for the Cincinnati Bengals. When free agency began, Trent Brown joined the team as a right tackle, along with left tackle Orlando Brown Jr., creating the NFL’s largest tackle group. The team then added Amarius Mims at No. 18 in the draft, further solidifying their massive offensive line. Mims, standing at 6’8″ and 340 pounds, adds to the Bengals’ trend of having big tackles on their line.

The Bengals seem to have a preference for large tackles on the edge of their offensive line. Having Mims learn from veterans with similar body types, but playing on different sides, could greatly benefit his development as a player. Mims’ towering presence over his more experienced teammates is quite a spectacle, as shown in images shared by Bengals radio announcer Dan Hoard.

Comparatively, players like D’Ante Smith and Cody Ford are sizeable individuals, but Mims’s sheer size makes him stand out even more. Towards the end of practice, Mims and fellow rookie Matt Lee received extra attention from offensive line coach Frank Pollack. It is clear that the Bengals are building a formidable offensive line with a focus on size and strength.
