Anant Ambani, 29, is the youngest son of Indian tycoon Mukesh Ambani, who is considered the richest man in Asia with an estimated fortune of 121 billion dollars. On July 12, Anant Ambani will finally tie the knot with his girlfriend Radhika Merchant in what is anticipated to be the most luxurious wedding in the world. The pre-wedding celebrations lasted for more than four months and were a display of opulence.
The extravagant festivities started in March with a fiesta that lasted three days in the city of Jamnagar in India, attended by around 1,200 guests, including billionaires such as Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and Sunder Pichai. A special performance by Rihanna and a light show featuring 5,500 drones were some of the highlights of the celebration.
Part of the celebration was a visit to an animal rescue center run by Anant, where the guests dressed in jungle-themed clothing. In late May, the couple organized a four-day Mediterranean cruise for 1,200 people, with performances by Katy Perry, Backstreet Boys, and Andrea Bocelli.
As a part of the pre-wedding activities, the Ambani family organized a mass wedding for 52 disadvantaged couples in the western region of India. Each couple received gold and silver wedding jewelry, $1,200 in cash, and provisions for a year.
Anant Ambani, who currently runs the new energy business of his father’s empire, will marry Radhika Merchant, a businesswoman and daughter of a pharmaceutical magnate. The wedding ceremonies will take place over three days in Bombay, and the couple will be dressed in creations designed by renowned Indian designer Manish Malhotra.
The details of the marriage are being kept under wraps, but the wedding is expected to be held at the family’s 27-story residence in Bombay, known as Antilia, and at the Jio World Convention Centre. This wedding follows Mukesh Ambani’s daughter’s wedding in 2018, which was considered the most expensive wedding ever held in India.
With Mukesh Ambani being one of the richest individuals in Asia, and his company, Reliance Industries, being a massive conglomerate, the family’s commitment to social welfare and community support is evident through their various philanthropic endeavors, including the recent mass wedding for the disadvantaged couples.
