Angel Reese’s technical foul that resulted in ejection is overturned by WNBA

Angel Reese, a player for the Chicago Sky in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), has recently become an owner of a women’s professional soccer team. This development came about shortly after she made the decision to leave Louisiana State University (LSU) for the WNBA. The talks to join the ownership group of the soccer team began around the time of her transition.

Following a game on Tuesday where Reese was ejected after receiving two technical fouls, the WNBA has decided to rescind one of the technical fouls. The league confirmed that the second technical foul, which was initially given to Reese for waving at a referee “in resentment to the call,” has been overturned. However, Reese will still be required to pay a $200 fine for the technical foul that she did receive. The total amount of technical fouls she has accumulated this season will not be affected by this decision.

In the game that led to Reese’s ejection, she was called for a foul in the final minutes and subsequently received two technical fouls for allegedly disrespecting the referee. Despite attempts by Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon to seek an explanation for the calls, none was provided. Marina Mabrey, a veteran player on the Sky, emphasized the importance of composure in the WNBA, particularly for younger players.

Reese, who is one of the top rookies in the league, has been a significant contributor to the Sky’s performance this season. She averages 12.6 points and nine rebounds per game, making her one of the league leaders in these categories. Reese’s offensive rebounding prowess, in particular, sets her apart as she leads the league with an average of five offensive rebounds per game.
