At the annual Police Athletic League science fair, students from all five boroughs showcased their expertise in science, technology, engineering, and math. The event took place at the PAL center in Longwood, where fifth through eighth-grade students presented their projects centered around natural disasters.
The young engineers in training were tasked with creating structures that could withstand various disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, and more for at least 20 seconds. The projects varied from bridges to highways to armories, each showcasing the students’ creativity and problem-solving skills.
The competition was fierce as participants vied for the first-place prize of $500 for a STEM project at their center. It was a testament to the hard work and dedication of these young minds, who have a bright future ahead in the fields of science and engineering.
