The anti-corruption court has rejected yet another petition to release former defense minister Davit Tonoyan from detention, as reported by “Azatutyun” Andranik Manukyan, one of his lawyers, stated that the defense team believes there are grounds for Tonoyan’s release. Tonoyan has been in detention for almost two and a half years in a case involving embezzlement of about 4.5 million dollars related to “junk rockets.” He is the only one among 7 accused in this case who is currently in prison. The court has denied multiple motions to change Tonoyan’s detention status, and Tonoyan himself denies the accusations, claiming that he is a victim of political persecution.
