Antonio Conte, the former Chelsea and Tottenham coach, has been appointed as Napoli’s new coach following the club’s disappointing performance in the Serie A defending champions. The Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis welcomed Conte with a message on social media and shared a photo of him signing his contract. Conte, who has previously managed top Italian clubs like Juventus and Inter Milan, has signed a three-year deal worth eight million euros per season.

Napoli has gone through a turbulent period with five different coaches in the past year. After winning the Serie A title in 2022-2023 under Luciano Spalletti’s leadership, the club struggled and finished in 10th place this season. With Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri, and Francesco Calzona unable to replicate Spalletti’s success, Conte has been tasked with reviving the team’s fortunes.

Conte’s impressive coaching record, which includes multiple Serie A titles and a Premier League title with Chelsea, gives Napoli fans hope for a turnaround. Despite potential interest in him from other European clubs, Conte will have to make do without star striker Victor Osimhen, who is a sought-after player. However, Napoli’s key forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is set to stay at the club following Conte’s request to keep him despite reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
