Apogee Names SGMC Health’s Hospitalist Group as Program of the Year

SGMC Health is proud to announce that its hospitalist group, Apogee Physicians, has been honored by its national leadership as the Program of the Year. This accolade is the highest honor given by Apogee, the largest entirely physician-owned hospitalist organization in the United States, operating in 26 states. The hospitalist practice at SGMC Health, led by Program Directors Phillip Alscher, MD, and Dhaval Patel, DO, has demonstrated exceptional performance, dedication to patient care, and innovative practices, distinguishing itself among Apogee’s numerous programs nationwide.

A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in the care of hospitalized patients. Unlike other doctors who might divide their time between their office and the hospital, hospitalists work exclusively in the hospital, providing consistent and comprehensive care throughout a patient’s stay. SGMC Health has partnered with Apogee since 2016. Dr. Alscher expressed his gratitude for the recognition saying, “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our entire team. We strive to provide the highest quality care to our patients, and this award reflects our dedication to excellence in hospital medicine.”

Pankaj Agrawal, MD, Chief Medical Officer at SGMC Health, added, “We are incredibly proud of the entire Apogee Physicians team. Their unwavering focus on patient-centered care and clinical excellence has set a new standard in hospital medicine. This award highlights their outstanding contributions and the positive impact they have on our community.” The Program of the Year Award is a significant milestone for Apogee Physicians at SGMC Health, underscoring their role as leaders in hospitalist care. The team’s achievement reflects their commitment to improving patient outcomes and setting a benchmark for hospitalist practices across the nation.
