Apple Inc. and Google LLC are currently facing lawsuits filed by a French inventor who claims that they have been infringing on his US patents for a web browsing technology designed for mobile devices. The inventor alleges that both companies are violating patent numbers 8,271,877 and 10,943,058, which are titled “Method and Device for Accessing Information Sources and Services on the Web.”

The complaints were filed on Monday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. The ‘877 patent was initially registered on September 18, 2012, while the ‘058 patent was registered on March 9, 2021. These patents describe a unique interface for mobile devices that features icons organized in a specific manner.

The French inventor believes that Apple and Google are utilizing his patented technology without authorization, and he is seeking compensation for damages. The legal proceedings are still ongoing, and it remains to be seen how the courts will rule on this matter. Both Apple and Google have yet to comment on the lawsuits filed against them.
