Apple rejected Meta Platforms’ proposal to integrate its Artificial Intelligence (AI) models months ago due to differences in privacy terms. The Cupertino-based company believes that Meta Platforms, led by Mark Zuckerberg, does not have strict enough security practices. Apple recently held its Annual Developers Conference (WWDC) where it introduced its new AI system, Apple Intelligence, along with updates to its software and a new collaboration with OpenAI.

During the conference, Apple’s senior vice president of Software and Engineering, Craig Federighi, announced that the company would integrate ChatGPT into its systems. He also hinted at a potential future collaboration with Alphabet’s Gemini. Reports from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman suggest that Apple had been negotiating with Meta Platforms to integrate its AI models into its operating systems. However, it was later revealed that Apple rejected Meta Platform’s proposal in March and decided not to proceed with the partnership due to concerns about privacy practices.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple is in talks with Anthropic and Perplexity AI to bring their technology to Apple Intelligence. While negotiations with Anthropic are ongoing for the use of their chatbot, no further developments have been made with Perplexity. It seems that Apple is focused on partnerships that align with its strict privacy standards, and is exploring collaborations that offer cutting-edge AI technology while maintaining user privacy and security.
