iOS 18 introduces new features for texting on your iPhone, making it more like email or Slack. The update includes the ability to schedule text messages to be sent later, a highly requested feature that can be useful for reminders or birthday wishes. Ronak Shah, Apple’s director of internet-technologies product marketing, highlighted the convenience of this new feature during the WWDC event.

In addition to scheduling messages, iOS 18 allows for text formatting such as bolding, italics, strikethrough, and underlining. Emoji and sticker tapbacks have been added to iMessage, expanding the options for reacting to messages. This includes new tapbacks beyond the existing ones like thumbs-up or -down, heart, laugh, exclamation point, and question mark.

Apple has also introduced new text effects like “shake” and “bloom” to add more creativity to messages. Some effects will be suggested automatically based on your message content, but users can also choose to apply any effect to their texts. These updates aim to enhance the texting experience on iPhones and give users more ways to express themselves through messaging.
