Arizona’s ‘Poozeum’ houses the world’s largest coprolite collection

The owner of the largest collection of fossilized poop in the world is showcasing his collection at the newly opened Poozeum in Arizona. George Frandsen holds the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of coprolites, which are fossilized feces from ancient animals. Initially having 1,277 fossils, his collection has now grown to 8,000 pieces.

Frandsen transformed his collection into a virtual exhibit and toured it around various museums for years before finally opening a permanent location in Williams, Ariz. He noticed a lack of representation of coprolites in mainstream sources and museum exhibits, making it his mission to educate people on this unique aspect of paleontology. The Poozeum is now open for visitors and offers free admission to all.

The museum also has a dinosaur-themed gift shop that generates revenue to support the museum’s operations. Frandsen quit his job in healthcare and moved his family from Florida to Arizona to pursue his dream of opening the Poozeum. His fascination with fossilized feces dates back to when he was 18 and stumbled upon coprolites at a rock store in Utah. He found them both hilarious and fascinating, sparking his curiosity to learn more about these unique specimens that provide insights into ancient creatures’ diets, behaviors, and environments.
