Armand Duplantis shatters pole vault world record for eighth time with incredible jump of 6.24 meters

Armand Duplantis of Sweden celebrated his victory in the men’s pole vault by setting a new world record in the discipline. The 24-year-old cleared the bar at 6.24 meters, a significant eight centimeters higher than any other athlete had ever achieved. This was Duplantis’ eighth world record in pole vaulting, showcasing his dominance in the sport at the season’s first Diamond League meeting in Xiamen, China.

After his record-breaking performance, Duplantis celebrated by jumping off the mat and then running over to share the moment with his team and the crowd. He effortlessly cleared every vault on his first attempt, highlighting his exceptional skill and his ability to push the limits of pole vaulting. With the Paris Olympic Games on the horizon, Duplantis has indicated that he still has more to give and has his sights set on reaching even higher marks.

Looking ahead, Duplantis expressed his desire to further improve his performance and achieve marks around 6.30 meters. He aims to dominate the sport and push himself to excel in every competition he participates in. The USA’s Christian Coleman won the men’s 100 meters, followed by Fred Kerley and Ackeem Blake. In the women’s 200 meters, Torrie Lewis claimed her first Diamond League victory, with Sha’Carri Richardson finishing second after Lewis’s late surge.
