Harry Smith’s impressive 11 goals in League Two this season made him the first Sutton player to reach double figures in goals during an EFL campaign. However, despite his success on the field, Smith will be departing the club along with winger Omari Patrick after turning down new contract offers.

Sutton United, who were relegated to the National League after finishing 23rd in League Two, confirmed that Smith and Patrick had been given the opportunity to stay with the club but ultimately decided to decline the proposals. This marks the end of a three-year stint for Sutton in England’s fourth tier.

On a more positive note, goalkeeper Steve Arnold has opted to sign a contract extension with Sutton United, securing his spot with the club until the end of next season. Arnold, who is 34 years old, featured in 15 games last season, including the final 13 fixtures of the campaign.

Smith, 29, was the top goal-scorer for Sutton this season, having joined the club from Leyton Orient at the start of the 2023-24 campaign. In 42 appearances, Smith found the back of the net 14 times. Patrick, 27, also contributed to the team’s success after signing with Sutton from Carlisle United last summer, scoring five goals in 35 games.
