Two Los Angeles area men were arrested in connection with a theft at a business in Palm Desert. Authorities revealed that a 47-year-old man from Glendale and a 40-year-old man from Hollywood were taken into custody following a short pursuit that was related to an investigation of an earlier theft.

The incident began on Monday around 5:30 p.m. when deputies responded to a grand theft at a business located on the 73000 block of El Paseo in Palm Desert. It was reported that two men had entered the business, concealed merchandise on their person, and left the business without paying. They then fled in a white, newer-model Lexus.

Following the incident, the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team (SET) and the Palm Desert Business District Team (BDT) took over the investigation. The suspects were located at approximately 8:35 p.m. parked at a shopping center on Highway 111 and Washington Street in La Quinta. They attempted to evade deputies but were eventually apprehended.

Deputies found the stolen items, as well as numerous suspected stolen bottles of wine and over-the-counter medication inside the suspect’s vehicle. Both suspects were taken to the John Benoit Detention Center for charges of grand theft and felony evading.

The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information on the theft or the recovered items is urged to contact Deputy Hindiyeh or Deputy Botello at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station by calling 760–836–1600.
