Arthur M. Blank honored with Lifetime Achievement Award by Sports Business Journal

Arthur M. Blank is widely known by Atlanta United fans as the club’s owner who has brought a new level of soccer to the city. However, Blank’s impact on Atlanta sports goes far beyond just the beautiful game.

In 2002, Blank, the co-founder of The Home Depot, purchased the Atlanta Falcons and transformed the franchise into a perennial contender. He continued his commitment to revitalizing Atlanta sports teams by establishing Atlanta United in 2014. Major League Soccer was a new venture for the city, and Blank’s vision and leadership were crucial to its success.

Atlanta United quickly captured the hearts of the city with sell-out crowds and passionate fan support from the start. The team’s 2018 MLS Cup victory, the city’s first title in over twenty years, is a testament to Blank’s dedication to building a winning organization.

Blank’s influence on Atlanta’s sports scene extends beyond Atlanta United. He led the development of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a cutting-edge facility that is home to both Atlanta United and the Falcons. Blank’s commitment to Atlanta also extends to philanthropic endeavors. At 81 years old, Blank’s legacy is one of transforming Atlanta into a major sports destination, with Atlanta United exemplifying his vision and leadership. The Blank Family of Businesses includes AMB Sports & Entertainment, the golf team Atlanta Drive (TGL), the PGA Tour Superstore, the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, and the AMB West ranches in Montana.
