Aston Villa has officially announced the signing of Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus in a deal worth 22m euros (£18.6m). Iling-Junior, a 20-year-old English forward, joins for a fee of 14m euros (£11.8m) plus 3m euros (£2.5m) in potential add-ons. Meanwhile, Argentine midfielder Barrenechea, 23, has been acquired for 8m euros (£6.7m) plus 3m euros in add-ons.

The double signing comes hot on the heels of Douglas Luiz’s move to Juventus from Villa in a deal worth £42.35m. Luiz, a Brazilian midfielder, signed a five-year contract with the Italian side. Iling-Junior previously was a part of Chelsea’s academy before moving to Juventus, where he made his senior debut in May 2022. He has scored two goals in 45 appearances for Juventus and has also represented the England Under-21 team.

Barrenechea, on the other hand, spent a season on loan at Frosinone during his time with Juventus. In addition to the signings of Iling-Junior and Barrenechea, Villa recently brought in Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen for £35m and striker Lewis Dobbin from Everton. The club is making significant moves in the transfer market ahead of the upcoming season.
