Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker has been sidelined for 10 days due to a right shin contusion. Tucker, who is tied for second in home runs in the MLB, was seen on crutches after fouling a pitch off his leg during a recent game. Astros manager Joe Espada stated that Tucker’s recovery is not progressing as quickly as anticipated, prompting the decision to place him on the injured list to ensure he fully heals before returning to play.

Tucker’s placement on the IL is retroactive to Tuesday, meaning he could potentially return to the team on June 14 for a series against the Detroit Tigers. At the time of his injury, Tucker ranked highly in several statistical categories in the MLB, showcasing his importance to the Astros lineup.

Unfortunately, Tucker’s injury is just one of many setbacks the Astros have faced this season. Starting pitchers Cristian Javier and JosĂ© Urquidy recently underwent Tommy John surgery, ruling them out for the rest of the year. Despite these challenges, the Astros are working to adapt and maintain their competitiveness in the league.
