Forrest Health hosted its annual “Cancer Survivors Picnic” in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The event brought together cancer survivors, current patients, and those who have lost loved ones to share stories of perseverance and support one another. Dozens of survivors enjoyed food, music, and art while uplifting each other and offering inspiration to those still in the battle.
Forrest Health Vice President Millie Swann expressed the importance of survivors sharing their stories to make a difference for those who will follow in their footsteps. The picnic coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Forrest Health Cancer Center, a place that holds special significance for many survivors like Dorothy Williams, who has beaten cancer twice and received invaluable support and care at the center.
LaSandra Hudson, another survivor, emphasized the importance of support from doctors, nurses, and fellow survivors during the difficult journey of fighting cancer. The Cancer Center is currently working on clinical trials that offer new hope and potential treatment options for patients.
Despite the challenges of battling cancer, Hudson shared a message of resilience and faith: “Do not walk in fear, because God’s got you.” The annual picnic served as a reminder of the strength and support found in the community of cancer survivors and those dedicated to helping them in their fight.
