Atalanta are reportedly interested in making a move for Italian playmaker Nicolo Zaniolo, who is eager to return to Serie A after a loan spell at Aston Villa. The Europa League winners are looking to hijack Fiorentina’s pursuit of the 24-year-old.
Despite Fiorentina being initially considered favorites to sign Zaniolo, they are only willing to take him on an initial loan deal with an option to make it permanent next summer. Atalanta, on the other hand, have made contact with Galatasaray, Zaniolo’s parent club, and are prepared to take him on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of next season.
Atalanta’s head coach Gian Piero Gasperini is a big admirer of Zaniolo and has reportedly approved the move. The Italian club seems keen to secure the services of the former Roma star and are ready to push forward with the deal.
