Greece is currently in the process of constructing what is being referred to as Europe’s largest and greenest smart city near Athens. Ellinikon’s developers are aiming to create a “zip-code paradise” at the heart of the project, which will feature the Riviera Tower as Greece’s first skyscraper.

This $8 billion initiative has been in development for over a decade and is situated on the grounds of a former Athens airport. The Ellinikon smart city is designed to offer a mix of high-end amenities, including a mall, sports park, and eco-friendly infrastructure. The goal is to blend beautiful coastal views with advanced technology and sustainability.

The first phase of the Ellinikon project is expected to be completed by 2026. Developers anticipate that upon completion, the smart city will draw in a million new tourists and contribute 3.3 billion euros ($3.6 billion) to the Greek economy. Such innovative projects are often seen in countries like China and the Middle East, making Ellinikon a unique addition to the European landscape.
