Attempting the Most Expensive Racing Simulator in the World

Warne and his team at Dynisma have developed a driving simulator with an incredibly low latency of 3 milliseconds, making it feel like a truly realistic racing experience. By using super low-friction struts and motors, they have reduced latency from the typical 50 milliseconds to an impressive 3 milliseconds. This allows drivers to feel every detail of the road, such as kerb strikes, in real time.

In addition to low latency, Dynisma has also improved the simulator’s bandwidth to make the experience even more realistic. This is crucial for simulating the various road hits that cars encounter, such as speed bumps, rumble strips, and cat’s eyes. The simulator can vibrate at very high frequencies with no recoil, providing a more immersive experience. With a bandwidth of up to 100Hz, Dynisma’s system is said to be 50 percent better than its competitors.

Dynisma’s driving simulator is considered cutting edge technology, resulting in Ferrari’s F1 team adopting it for their use. However, such advanced technology comes at a high cost, with a fully loaded Dynisma rig costing over $12 million. Even the entry-level package costs around $2 million and includes features like a wraparound 360-degree 240 fps 4K LED screen with an audio package to match. Despite the high cost, the level of realism and performance offered by Dynisma’s simulator makes it a top choice for F1 teams and car manufacturers seeking to hone their vehicles.
