This weekend, Auburn target Eric Winters is one of 12 recruits on campus for official visits, and there is speculation that he will commit to Auburn. Recruiting analysts predict that Auburn will land Winters before the weekend ends. On Saturday afternoon, Winters announced his commitment to Hugh Freeze and the Tigers.

Winters, a four-star safety from Enterprise, Alabama, credits his relationship with Freeze as a major factor in his decision to commit to Auburn. He highlights Freeze’s love for his players, family values, and the strong relationship they have built. For Winters, Auburn has always been a top choice, and this weekend solidified his decision by creating a clear connection between himself, Georgia, and Miami.

Now committed to Auburn, Winters is already working to recruit other top players from Alabama to join him at Auburn. He has his eye on several players, including his teammate Zion Grady and other talented prospects like Alvin Henderson, Julian Lewis, and KJ Lacey. Winters is also working with Coach Freeze to bring in a group of top defensive players from Alabama known as the “Super 7.”

Ranked as the No. 5 recruit from Alabama in the 2025 cycle, Winters is the fourth top-10 player from the state to commit to Auburn. Standing at 6-2 and weighing 200 pounds, he is ranked as the No. 5 safety and the No. 53 overall recruit for the cycle. With Winters on board, Auburn now holds the No. 6 spot in 247Sports’ class of 2025 recruiting rankings.
