Carde Smith, a four-star offensive tackle from Mobile, has decided to re-open his recruitment. He announced on Wednesday that he is no longer committed to Auburn and will explore other options for this recruiting cycle.
Smith initially committed to Auburn on April 10, choosing the Tigers over offers from Florida State and Mississippi State. At the time, he was the third offensive lineman to join Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class and had developed a strong relationship with offensive line coach Jake Thornton. However, since then, Smith has received offers from Tulane, Colorado, and USC. He recently took an official visit to USC before making the decision to de-commit from Auburn.
With Smith’s de-commitment, Auburn has dropped to No. 8 in 247Sports’ 2025 recruiting rankings. This move comes after four-star running back Alvin Henderson flipped his commitment from Penn State to Auburn last week. Despite losing Smith, Auburn still has four offensive line commits in their class, including four-star offensive tackle Tavaris Dice.
