Austin-area high school sports athletes recognized by Greater Austin Sports Foundation

Three Austin-area high school athletes were recently honored by the Greater Austin Sports Foundation for their excellence in both athletics and academics. Neliaj Deleon, a senior goalkeeper from Georgetown, helped lead her soccer team to a 22-1-4 season and a spot in the regional tournament. She was also named to the Class 5A all-state tournament team last year and will continue her soccer career at Vanderbilt.

Josiah Moseley, a standout basketball player from Stony Point, was named the 2023 Central Texas boys basketball player of the year. As a senior, he led the Tigers to their first-ever state tournament appearance and was named Gatorade’s Texas boys basketball player of the year. He will be playing basketball at Villanova next season.

Savannah Skopal, a senior setter from Rouse, was recognized for her impressive volleyball career. She was named to the all-state volleyball team for all four years of high school and finished her senior season with 1,586 assists, 386 digs, 157 kills, 74 aces, and 70 blocks. Skopal will be continuing her volleyball career at Rice University.
