When Austin Ekeler first joined the Chargers in 2017 as an undrafted free agent, he was under the leadership of head coach Anthony Lynn. Lynn played a key role in helping Ekeler earn a spot on the team and grow into an important role on the offense during his time with the Chargers. However, following the 2020 season, Lynn was let go as head coach. Now, the two have been reunited with the Commanders, with Lynn taking on a new role as the run game coordinator/running backs coach and Washington signing Ekeler to a two-year deal in March.

During his time with Lynn in 2019, Ekeler had one of his best seasons, recording 1,550 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns. Last year, in 14 games, Ekeler rushed for 628 yards with five touchdowns and caught 51 passes for 436 yards with a touchdown. The reunion of Ekeler and Lynn in Washington brings a sense of familiarity and confidence for both individuals as they look to continue their success together.
