Austria climbs into top-five in Euro 2024 power rankings after latest win

Austria head coach Ralf Rangnick left his interim position at Manchester United two years ago with his reputation having taken a major dip. Fair to say that he has restored it now. Rangnick’s side used its brand of relentless, pressing soccer to overcome the Netherlands and secure not only a 3-2 win but also first place in Group D on Tuesday. Following a comfortable win against Poland and a narrow defeat to France, Austria has risen steadily up the FOX Sports Euro 2024 power rankings and has also been one of the most attractive teams to watch in the tournament. England made no progress on the field or on the ranking list, Spain remains untouched at the top, and Austria sits neatly at No. 5, eyeing more impact and more big scalps in the round of 16 — and beyond.

In the power rankings, Spain is making it look easy, while Portugal is in top form. Germany is still riding the wave of momentum, and France had a mixed day highlighted by Mbappe’s return. Austria, arguably the most entertaining team of all, has moved up two spots. England remains painful to watch at times, and Italy sees a plot twist in their position. Switzerland was close to upsetting Germany, and the Netherlands has seen a significant drop in their level of play. Meanwhile, Denmark and Slovenia have advanced to the next round of the tournament.

With a win in Group C, England and Italy are both hopeful for better performances as the tournament progresses. However, teams like Serbia, Romania, and Scotland have faced disappointing outcomes and will need to regroup for future competitions. As the Euro 2024 continues, fans can expect more thrilling matches and surprises from the participating teams.
