Avera Health in Sioux Falls is embarking on its largest building project in history, totaling 350,000 square feet and costing $245 million. System healthcare administrators made this announcement at a press conference held at the Avera Prairie Center on Wednesday morning.

The first part of this project will involve constructing a six-story tower addition to the Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center on Cliff Avenue. This new space will be dedicated to women’s and children’s acute care, expanding on these services and providing a centralized location for them.

The second part of the project will include building a three-story structure on the Avera on Louise Health Campus at 69th Street and Louise Avenue. This new building will be specifically for digestive health services, while the current space for these services will be converted for orthopedic care as part of Avera’s expansion.

Avera President and CEO Jim Dover, along with Avera McKennan Regional President and CEO Dr. Ronald Place, Dr. Katherine Wang, and Jennifer Kirby, shared the details of this project during the press conference at the Avera Prairie Center.

This exciting development is still unfolding, so stay tuned for more updates on this significant project.
