Awards for Engineering and Computer Science Honored at Convocation of Scholars

The College of Engineering and Computer Science at Arkansas State University recently held a Convocation of Scholars awards ceremony to recognize outstanding students. Dr. Abhijit Bhattacharyya, the dean of the college, announced the winners of various awards during the event.

Among the recipients was Jackson Chrestman from Jonesboro, who received the Chancellor’s Scholar Award and 4.0 Scholar Award for having the highest GPA among graduating seniors. Chrestman will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science.

In addition to the overall awards, departmental awards were presented to the top graduating seniors in each academic degree program. These awards included the Citizenship Award and the Outstanding Student Award. The Citizenship Award is given to students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, character, and involvement in their department and community.

Recipients of the Citizenship Award included students from various degree programs such as computer science, engineering technology, engineering management systems, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and land surveying and geomatics. Each student was recognized for their outstanding contributions.

The Outstanding Student Award, which is given to the student with the highest GPA in each undergraduate degree program, was also presented during the ceremony. Recipients of this award included students from programs such as computer science, engineering technology, engineering management systems, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and land surveying and geomatics.

The Convocation of Scholars events will continue throughout April at Arkansas State University.
